Horrible engine vibration

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Horrible engine vibration

Post by HazmatJeff » Tue Mar 22, 2011 6:13 pm

So whenever I accelerate from a stoop or idle my engine makes like a skipping sound, no like with the pistons, but it sounds kind of like a dragging sound. I checked my car with the parking break on and in drive and when I push on the passenger side motor mount I can hear the sound and see the auto tensioner vibrate a bit. The only other place I see the sound could come from was on the motor mount between the top and bottom mounts and right next to the belts. Can anyone help me? :-s

motor mount

Post by Rondeau04 » Sun Mar 27, 2011 8:02 pm

this happened to me as well. check on the passenger side tire well.
there should be like a little about 1 inch plug in the plastic tire well. there is another mount in there that went on me. i got by for a little while with sticking rubber in it. the only problem is they dont make the mounts anymore i ended up going to the junk yard and pulling one out of a pt cruiser.

as soon as you pull that plug out you will see if the rubber mount is worn away. you then can jack up the engine and slide some rubber inbetween the metal and the bottom metal.

let me know it that helps

They may not make them for a price you wish to pay, but I'm sure they are still available.

Well if they are on Backorder for that long, they are obviously still making them! :D
