help with fuel tank straps

do i need to remove the tank to change them?

one only has a 5" section left and the other is really rusted and the tank is hanging low on the broken side need some quick reply's maybe someone has a picture of where the strap holds to the body of the car would help a lot.

No you don't, but they are a pain in the ass to change.

details on how to remove them without taking the tank completely off the car its cold out right now 25 deg and 1 strap just isn't going to cut it.

You just change one at a time. It helps to have a jack under the tank to jack it up or let it down a little bit. I'm not under a car right now so I can't give you exact details on how to get to each bolt and what not.

Jack the rear of the car as high as you can, support it with jack stands, put a floor jack under the gas tank, with a piece of wood between the gas tank and the jack so you don't break the tank. Buy new straps, and go to town.

well that much i get i just don't want to have to disconnect all the hoses and stuff

if you are just changing the straps you won't need to disconnect any hoses, don't use the jack, you most definately will have hook most of them up or replace them.
