2.0 throttle Body and Intake

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Well an R/T intake manifold would work for you. They pop up in the forums occassionally. Try eBay too and local junkyards. As for a throttle body look on modernperformance.com. You're probably wanting a 60mm tb depending on what you're doing. I have a stock one here :D

*NOTE* why not create a want to buy thread in WTB section.

Welcome to 2gn as well!

*EDIT*

With the RT manifold you will either have to gut the butterflies out or get an RT engine harness and ECU for it to work. Or do the RPM window switch setup so the butterflies function like on an RT.

Goodluck!

thanks for the input. I saw the 60mm from MP but they discontinued the part.

I think i may go with the RT manifold and just do a little customizing. Thanks for the input though.

Ya, they've discontinued the TB on ModernPerformance a while ago.

I used to want an R/T Intake Manifold, but from what I hear... there's minimal gain from such a heavy manifold (unless you can swap an R/T motor in). Plus, Erick used a plastic manifold on his when he pushed ~28psi of boost lol (something like that, can't remember). However, he did blow a hole in the manifold...

yeah i guess in a sense im just digging to deep. Im sure if i got my handy dremel out i could get all i need to get out of my plastic one and just paint it shiney. About the throttle manifold, i would really like to get my hands on one of those though.

i wouldnt dremel any plastic parts in the intake assembly, they have a special coating to help smooth airflow...also any porting gains will be minimal.

also you can just have the mag mani without anything done to it and it will work fine until you can afford to get the electric parts to make it work like normal.

Well he's in luck. I happen to be selling my RT head, with all valvetrain and cam. Find a set of pistons and he'll be off to a good start. :D

Ya, whenever I can afford the time and money to be doing a motor swap, if I haven't found a dang SRT-4 that's been wrecked... I might just have to go with an R/T Motor swap instead :banghead:

He has an '01, pistons wouldn't make any difference. The Mag IM will also work fine on an SE head. Just not as well as with the Magnum head.

Now now Bill, are you tired? Andrew said unless he can swap an RT motor in. Well all he would have to do to make it an RT is swap pistons and cylinder head and intake and exhaust manifolds and it will be an RT motor basically. Lol

Fixed.

Like I said, pistons not required. Both are 9.8:1 C.R. therefore there is no real world benefit. Allegedly the Magnum pistons have a coating, and slightly stronger rods, but they will not make any more power. An R/T PCM will be a far better bang for the buck than piston/rod assy's.

I only mentioned the head, because the IM will work fine without the R/T head.

2.0 throttlebody and intake

let me be sure if I understand this correctly. Bill are you saying the R/T intake will bolt up to the ES and SE head? Just trying to be sure I am on the same page. Not trying to contradict you, just looking for clarification.

This is why I posted the head part. :D

Yep, it is a direct fit. A different gasket, and bolts are needed, but it will fit. The intake ports are basically the same. It is the exhaust ports that are larger on the R/T head. Actually the intake ports on my SE head were better gasket matched than the Magnum ones on the casting I have. That has been corrected.

Very interested in the part. Email me with details, id like to get something worked out as im told the magnum head has alot more capability than even a ported and polished regular one.

Thanks Bill for clearing that up for me. Guess I assumed the intake would'nt work since the exhaust was different.
