Popping sound out newly installed speakers. Problem solved.
I put in some new Infinity speakers myself in the door mounts and rear deck. When I did the installation I noticed that, at least to me, the wires from the car werent marked Pos or Neg so I just connected them till I got sound. And there was sound no matter which way they were connected. So, can that be the reason why my speakers have a popping sound when cranked up?

Just replaced the speakers. No amp. Maybe I shouldnt say cranked up, sorry. They play ok at a low to slightly moderate volume. But whenever I want to turn it up a bit to above moderate level, they start popping on the bass notes. And it doesnt sound like distortion, cuz I dont mean ear piercing loud, just want to jam with the windows down loud.
Also, the bass settings affect it alot. I have to have the bass boost, from the radio, off, bass level on 1, 0, or -1 just to have the volume on 25, or else it'll pop.
These were supposedly Infinity's top of the line. 6 1/2's and 6x9's.

Try switching the polarity, and keep them all consistent. Speakers do have a (+) and a (-). If the polarity is wrong, it puts the speakers out of phase, which will affect the bass.

I have a feeling it is polarity since when I was connecting speakers, I would try both ways and they would still work. I remember, and miss, the old days when the wires were coded red and black and when if the polarity was wrong, they wouldnt work.
I just found the sticky for the color code for the wires. I'll go by that.
Thanks guys.

Well, I just checked the polarities, and corrected the one that was incorrect. Still the same problem. Maybe these "top of the line" Infinity Kapa's arent so hot after all. Real talk, I've had jensen's speakers with better output. Maybe LSP is right, They're pretty much maxed out an need an amp to run louder.

If they are connected backwards and some connected correctly polarity wise...you will get cancellation....so then you automatically crank up the volume to make them sound louder when in reality they are loud just canceled out..
If you need a diagram for inside the door and the rears I can get you one..
What year is your car Ill pull up the info for you.
Also what is the Rms output on the speakers...there should be a Peak and RMS I want to know the RMS...Infinitys are ok but if your running them off a stock radio then YES they are being under powered. Stock radio at MOST puts out a whopping 8-10 watts rms. If you had a nice aftermarket deck you would be fine to run them but dont expect a crazy amount of bass from at least the fronts anyway...the rears (if you put in 6x9s) should pump a little better...

an aftermarket unit especially a kenwood will only push out about 15-22 watss rms....even if it say 50 or 60x4....thats peak power...
ill get you a schematic by morning.....there may be a setting u r missing on the head unit....like a bass boost...heck whats the frequency set at...for the front i would set the hp filter if there is one...for the front like 100 hz and the rear at about 80hz.....anything more than that may be too much at least for the fronts...
if u are looking into a decent 4 channel i have about 3 for sale in my car audio thread...i also have all the wire and connectors you need lol.....pm me let me know if you decide to go that route....

on some of the higher end aftermarket decks....they put built in high pass and low pass filters...not familiar with ur deck so I cant say....i would suggest either turn the bass down a little bit more or get an aftermarket amplifier and go from there.....just know that if ur looking to get some bump out of the car you will want to look into a sub of some sort....then ur options become endless....
do confirm the polarity take a 9v battery (the square ones) snip off your connector for your stock speaker with some wire left on it, plug it into the stock speaker and strip the ends of the wire. touch the battery terminals to the bare wire and if the speaker pushes out the corresponding +/- on the battery is the correct polarity on the spekers, if it pulls in well, then switch it!

its due to mopars headunits and speakers are odd ohm levels... in turn you will get a distorted popping sound because youve changed the impedance level... most after market speakers are 4 ohm mopars speakers are anywere from 8-6-3.5 its really weird i put jl 3.5in 4 ohm speakers in my dash and they sounded like a$$ with the factory hu because there wired in parallel with the door speakers... then the rears same thing.. then i changed the head unit and perfect now
