this was a very smooth set of stages, very fast and VERY turbo friendly (we saw 115ish a few times... which on gravel/dirt is kinda like floating or 'guiding the car' not driving - pucker factor is HIGH!!)
so dispite having 'mid-pack driver skills' the car really helped make up for it at this race - we finished 5th overall so we had a lot of Subarus and Evos behinds us - the organizers 'reseed' the start order once or twice during the day so the fast guys don't catch the slower cars (we are racing the clock & go out in 2 minute intervals... so if you are seeded wrong you could easily catch the car in front of you which is not good for anyone involved)
I did mention to my co-driver after the 4th stage reseed that it is sure nice to look in the mirror at the starting line and see Subarus and Mitsu lined up behind us - we must be doing something right -

just click on '2011 Rally Results' and click on 'Standings' (I can't copy & paste it - sorry)
you can see 4 of the top 5 cars are 2WD - like I said the roads were nice and did not give AWD the level of advantage they usually get - they are still quicker leaving the start and can carry a littel more speed through the corners + hook up better coming out of the corners -
CRS-5 is 2WD open (my class)
CRS-2 is 2WD but max of 2 liter and no 'pressure'
Open 4WD speaks for itself - the BIG boys
CRS-GT is 4WD but restricted
and Perf Stock is 2WD pretty much stock - with safety stuff (also no 'pressure' allowed)
