Am I reading correctly?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Am I reading correctly?

The end of post number 8 says ideally an srt intake manifold will bolt directly to any 01-02 2.4 head. Is this absolutely positive? That being said will an 02 head match my 99 2.4 block? I was told by someone that they did the "tear drop" coolant passage a year or two prior to NGC. Is this correct? Reason being I may be getting an 02 PT head so that my srt intake manifold will bolt to it with no modification. Please clarify this for me please.

2001-2006 DOHC = SRT intake/exhaust bolt pattern

1995-2000 DOHC = 1st gen Neon intake/exhaust bolt pattern
You should be golden. AFAIK, the pre NGC DOHC heads were the same, 2.0 or 2.4, at least as far as the HG pattern.

Well went to the Junkyard today to pick up my 02 PT cylinder head. It had the tear drop coolant passage. After they had told me it had not. He tried to make me look bad. Question is, that head had an EGR valve on it. He said there was an option in his system about whether i needed an EGR valve or not. Can anyone verify that an 02 PT cruiser head without EGR whether it has the "tear drop" coolant passage or not. Also if someone has one I'll do $200.00 shipped. Or if someone can point me to the thread about plugging the hole and getting it Redrilled that would work too. And roughly what it costs in your states/Provinces.

Ok so found this. Looks like the 02 will NOT work without filling and re-drilling that port. That being said I found this link and it gives me the info I needed. Just thought I'd post it here for others who may run into this problem later down the road.

Post number 3 is the verdict!

So now to hunt me down one of these. Anyone Willing to help please let me know what you got.

Interesting. Leave it to PT's to be different. Possibly they got the SRT version stuff a year before the neon. (SRT)

It has me wondering now. Did they also make the PT export '02 and up DOHC 2.0s fit the larger vent hole?
