Post by c987long » Mon Apr 18, 2011 9:56 pm

i have the evo 4g, and was looking to root it so i can unlock the ad-hoc feature so i can use my obd2 wifi. And i was wondering if anyone could give me some guidance on how they accomplished it.

there are ways to do it, I used cynagen mod to root my android, but when everything was said and done I was better off with my android on stock settings because it used to many resources and my battery would not last 24hrs. I have since switched to an Apple 3G phone and I will never switch back to Android....my 2 cents....

You used clockwork mod. My suggest is find an Android site that has the EVO. It will show you how. I used droidforums.net for a how to on how to root my thunderbolt.

Stock I got five hours of battery life. Now with a custom Rom and kernel I'm getting over ten hours. It's all about how you set it up.

Rooting is dependent on the phone. Like Kyle said, find a site that is specific to your phone, and follow their instructions. I also remember seeing apps that supposedly do it, but im not sure if they work or not.

Set CPU FTW! Have that shit idle when your screen is off and bam, instant battery life gain.
