Fluxuating fuel gauge

Post by OhNoA2.0 » Wed Apr 20, 2011 1:55 am

Every time I accelerate, my fuel gauge plummits and my Low Gas light comes on. Once Im at cruising speed, it goes back to the correct level. and visa versa for braking (gauge goes up). what could be causing this?

Somethings wrong with the sensor? Mine does the same thing when I park uphill/downhill, so I guess when you give gas/break the gas splashes back and fourth. That would be my guess.. let's see what the experts have to say hahah

Check your grounds behind the drivers side tail light.

I had the same issue the other day, except it dropped with the defroster being on.

I dont think its an electrical issue. It just seems to be reading/displaying the fuel level too quickly.

Could be a cluster issue. Not sure on NGC, but my '01 would not move fast at all when changing resistance values. (I was experimenting on a fix for the UDP misfire) I had a 100 ohm resistor wired to a toggle, which puts it at low with the light on. Flipping the switch would not really move it. The only way I could get it to register the new resistance was to key off, and back on. It would not recognize the sudden change any other way.

Ok, apparantly my fuel guage issue was somehow related to my speedometer issue. I replaced the VSS sensor and the fuel gauge started working correctly again...but now my speedometer is fluxuating....ugh!
