He may be an asshole and borderline pedophile but he works hard to get what he wants in life. Sean, stick tap (hockey term) to you.skaterking411 wrote:

I'm confused how a thread about Sean's new car got derailed to you and Dodge transmissions. I don't care bout your daddy doing burn outs in a dodge with no transmission problems.smallblockfreak wrote:Hmmmm then i guess i just have one lucky family that we have owned three dodge rams, a dakota, and a durango and no transmission problems and with a father that does a burnout pretty much every day he gets home from work but yes dodge must have the shittiest transmissions known to man. Yet a 46RE is based off the 727 TorqueFlight which is also a strong transmission without an overdrive and we have owned way too many vehicles with 727s. The only dodge tranny failure we have had was my 88 Dodge Dynasty with the A604 which is nothing but a slushbox. I am also talking stock transmission and i'm pretty sure dodge uses a 47RE behind the cummins which just has more clutch packs as where a chevy uses a allison for their Dirtymaxx. Whatever to each their own if your happy with it then good.
Cool ride Sean.... I can see you jumping out of that more so than I see you jumping out of a neon.

It was more like crawling out, creaking and groaning and cursing myself for lowering a tiny ass car John.
I like it so far though. Muuuuch more comfortable to drive (for me since I'm a 6'3 300 pound pudding monster) than the Neon ever was. Plus the drivers seat isn't poking me in the back like the headrest bracket on the Neon was.

As for your oil leak, these S-10's have a remote oil filter towards the front of the vehicle. Sometimes the lines to the remote filter have a habit of leaking: check those first. Lie in front of the vehicle and there's a door in the front air dam, you can access the filter and lines from there.
BTW these are great vehicles, I have a 99 S10 4wd 4.3, (even though mine's a stick) this S10 has good accleration, power for towing and goes better in the snow/mud , etc than my old full size Chevy, must be the shorter wheelbase. Congrats on your find.

So I realized I haven't updated this yet so I may as well.
The truck is turning out to not be quite as good of a deal as I thought. The body and suspension are in good shape, but the trans is dying and will need to be replaced in the next few months. Also, somehow I forgot to check the AC before I bought... and it doesn't work.
Trans rebuild will put me out of a car for a week and cost about $1050.
AC... I haven't even thought about yet. The trans is much more important to me. I love having air conditioning, but I've gone without it before so I can do it again. I just won't be terribly happy on hot, rainy days. Otherwise with the 4WSR50 on my way to work, I'll be OK.
(4WSR50=4 windows (2 doors, 2 vents) Sun Roof 50 MPH... speed limit is 45 so I do about 50)
