What's the difference between a head gasket set for a regular 2.0 and the Magnum version? Is it just the manifold gaskets? I need to buy a gasket set, but no one here has one available for Neon with vin F.
If I pick up the set for the standard 2.0, add the magnum exhaust manifold gasket and a 1st gen sohc intake gasket, am I covered?
Head gasket set differences 2.0 magnum?

Doesn't the 1gn DOHC IM have the thermostat built into it? If so, that part of the gasket will need to be cut off. A Magnum IM gasket (MS96163) is like $6 and the Header gasket (MS96172) isn't much more. Just sayin'.
Rockauto.com shows Felpro pn HS9036PT3 as the head set for a valve grind for $112.99 Under the '04 R/T tab
But Advance shows that number for a '95 neon VIN "C"
Edit: RA kinda fails here. They also list a TB gasket, which is a 1gn part.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

by 1gn IM gasket i think he meant the 95 aluminum one as its different and it should work for the mag aluminum IM. Just as an fyi when you actually pick up the parts look at the IM gasket to make sure it isnt the rubber O-ring gaskets for the plastic manifold, yours should be a "paper" gasketoccasional demons wrote:Doesn't the 1gn DOHC IM have the thermostat built into it? it was a part year 95 deal, not even all the 95's have them.04R/T wrote:Thanks for the replies, anyway I bought a Victor Reinz set for the magnum engine on flea bay.
As for the intake, some of the sets I have seen for 1st gen sohc, have what appears to be a paper intake gasket. Was the aluminum sohc intake a 95 only deal?
