Quick question about a radiator

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Quick question about a radiator

Post by bennettmotorsports » Mon May 16, 2011 12:52 pm

I have a 00 that sprung a leak on the top of the radiator. I have an 03 here in the driveway that I am putting back together. I was going to pillage the radiator from the 03 for the time being. The 00 has only one fan. The 03 has 2. The 00 has 1st, 2nd and drive the 03 has 1st, 2nd, 3rd and OD. So that is the difference in the radiator. Will this cause anything to go haywire in the 00 if I go with that rad?

Also I believe the 95-99 radiators are the same as the 00 radiators. Can anyone elaborate?

You can use the newer radiator in your 2000 just fine. Re-use your old single fan.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

The lower hose may be different between the 3 speed radiator and the 4 speed. IIRC they changed the outlet positions for all three transaxles.

I picked up a used one at the junkyard. It is working pretty good.
