This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

0456 - Evap Leak Monitor Small (0.020) Leak Detected A small leak has been detected in the evaporative system.

Most PITA problem ever, if it's NOT your gas cap. Basically check your gas cap and make sure it's tight. Or replace it if you think it might not be sealing. Besides that, small EVAP leaks are hard to find. I don't know of any obvious area's to check on the Neon specifically, but someone else might.

you have a small evap leak somewhere. Being a NGC car (I'm assuming by your signature) that a few people have been having this problem and it has to do with a "thing a ma-jig" in underneath the car at the rear... PM Dante, I beleive I saw him post a pic here a while ago.

If you find the leak in your EVAP system, please share your findings. I have had this for 2 years now and haven't found it yet! I even had the system smoke tested in sections with no obvious leaks. :banghead: I love my Neon, but sometimes she is a PITA!

Mine was caused by the large vacuum line coming off of the carbon canister being cracked. I sealed the cracks up with some cold wrap tape and Permatex.
