AAHH Finally!! No more misfiring!!
Finally I figured out why the hell my Daytona was misfiring in full boost. There was some crud on the distributor terminals that I guess were weakening the spark. It was fine around town up to about 11-12psi. Once you got higher than that, it had a random misfire, but it sounded like it was consistent on one cylinder, every revolution, until I backed off and the boost level fell. I swore to myself up and down that it was a fuel issue, plus I never thought to check the ignition setup because the engine only has about 12k miles on it.
I hate/love that 2.2/2.5 distributor setup slung off the side of the 2.4L. Naturally it retains the old-school set of problems and inefficiencies, but it also retains the old-school simplicity.
Now that this whole thing is worked out, even in a 3300lb+ car, she pulls HARD when it be building da boost!
I'm sure not too many people give a damn, but I'm f-ing psyched!! 5 weeks until Carlisle and she's running stronger than ever!

Yup, what a stupid fix. I can't believe it was something that simple.
Odd, after I had figured that out, in my head I kept hearing you say "Man I wish I still had my Unilite distibutor off my Omni". That Daytona would have been a NICE home for a piece like that.

I hated the oem set up on those. Buying nice wires was truly a waste. You still had to change them after the ends got too bad. I would find a way to mod the distributor to use a normal cap/rotor.

Ah, the old 8-valve. I've had 3 of those already and I will have another someday. There's actually an old white 600 convertible near me with the 2.2L non-intercooled setup in it. Looks like it's pristine.
The distributor cap on my car is modded to use the regular wires. I don't have the spade-type terminals, I have the post type. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't be able to use the nice 90-degree ends that I have. Got it from a guy over on TurboDodge.com and he does a real clean job.

Off topic, but I don't know if you ever saw pics of my Omni. If not...

The dirty pics were ones I took before I sold him

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Many times, it's the 'stooopid and simple' stuff, that causes big problems.jonnymopar wrote:Yup, what a stupid fix. I can't believe it was something that simple.
Glad you figured it out !!

I guess I forgot you had a regular cap, it's only been almost a year since I seen it.

I'm glad Dante moved on to blue. I don't think I've seen purple plug wires before.NickKo wrote: Glad you figured it out !!![]()

You're not going?? That sucks man, I was hoping we'd be building on the New England/New York caravan that's been forming over the past couple years.
And yes, us boosted folks do not leave the non-boosted folks in the dust. Looking at the group as a whole, we've got a pretty good mix of N/A and turbo (and now supercharged). Everybody here knows what each car is capable of, so nobody's got anything to prove. Whether we're going to the field, back to the hotel, the Coliseum, etc, we all end up in the same place, so speeding ahead of everybody is pointless.
Hell, 2006 and 2007 I wasn't boosted. If/when I swap a N/A 2.4L into the Neon, I'll likely bring that to the show instead. No boost there.

Ahh ok. Nice setup.
Out of curiosity... what is that oil cap from? I remember Crystal having one too but It's not from an SRT-4 is it?

I grabbed them on eBay. I believe it's either from a Viper or a Ram SRT-10. I've got the same one on my Neon. Odd though, the one on the Daytona says 0W-40 and the Neon one says 10W-30. I ordered them at different times.
