TheDirtyBombs 05 SE...........going to the wreckin yard

Post by TheDirtyBomb » Sun Jun 05, 2011 11:18 pm

I have been meaning to do this for along time but have been so busy. I've made a few big mods to my car since my first introduction pictures where my car looked like complete crap.

Just a reminder of what I had when I got here

Since then I've done the following

- tokico illuminas which I got a really really good deal on for being brand new and coming with tokico springs

- Working Magnum IM

- Srt front and rear seats. They were pretty dirty and smelled badly like stale cigarettes when I got them but I've cleaned them since then. Who's complaining though I bought them for $200.

- repainted my srt wheels and they look great and have been holding up great to the oregon weather

- and today I removed the factory pin lines. The car looks amazing to me meow. Such a transformation in the past few months.

It all looks pretty good! Just off the top of my head, I would get a fuel rail cover and color match the door handles. The SRT rims look a bit off since you don't have a lip kit yet, but I'm sure it'll look good once you get something on the bumpers and get a set of side skirts.

Keep it up man

Color match is a definite. I'm trying to get good with the paint first though before I do any body paint.

and thanks

Almost done with the painting of my CAI. I'm painting it OEM PR4 Flame Red(getting good with color match). I put another clear coat on today to get the shine that I've been looking for. Perhaps when I get my new orbit sander I will wet sand with a super high grit to make sure I get it all even.

On another note. Its time for me to replace my bushings. Bought the Polyurethane set of MP. Had plans to buy a 1stgen VC to get powder coated Flame red but I guess I will have to put that off for awhile since I cant afford to buy everything at once.

Nice looking car man. I like your plans...but sadly I have to bust your bubble a little. If you want 160-180whp N/A.....you'll need a Crane 007 cam and Megasquirt.

Don't waste money on a smaller cam if you really want that kind of power. And don't waste money on an SAFC either....again, if you really want that kind of power.

Good luck! It would be a good idea to go ahead and spend the money for some dyno runs right now, so you have a baseline to work from. Plus, going to the dyno is fun!

Yeah I know you're right. I have been reading into it ALOT. All I can say is DAMN :facepalm2: .

So I've been thinking about it and sleeping on it. As much as I would love to go N/A I'm going to go the turbo route. Seems like its going to be about just as much or less(assuming I can find some good used parts) and will be giving the same WHP results or more much much more if I build a low compression engine to run on. Since I will be running turbo(expensive little bastards). I will use stock internals for now (except for cam/springs). So I'm shopping around for something that will fit in with my plans. I first looked into a T3 but have yet to read into them(quality/performance/reliability.. is it going to destroy my motor since I can get them so small).

If anyone has any opinions on this feel free to shoot. My ears are always open and my eyes love to read.

Been awhile since an update so...

What I'm doing now is painting my SRT skirts. I am Almost finished with the back portions. Need to go over with a 3000 grit again:roll: and clear. Something happened last time I put the clear on and it did not come out as glossy as I was hoping for.

Image

I know painting them outside I have gotten a little dust on em but thats what tack cloth is for and im not trying to make em perfect just very nice to the distant eye. When I got them they were scratched to shit.

On another note..

Can someone tell me what works best to mount on the bottoms. The dealership wants $40 for the oem hardware. I will be using some oem clips a thick 3m up top.

Started my rear disc swap today.

The left side WAS done(more info below). I had to order a new fluid line though. Will be here tomorrow morning. The guy gave me the wrong one. I already had to order the passenger side fluid line. My fault for not taking a hint when they didnt match.

THIS SIDE... THIS SIDE REALLY PISSED ME OFF :cussing: .

My disc swap was taking no time at all. It was such a breeze everything was going, for the most part, smoothly. Well after it was on and I was trying to put the rotor on it WOULDNT GO! :banghead: That's when I noticed that the hub was off at a slant and the spindle was bent south. WTF! :banghead: ASS sold me SHIT. So now I have to swap knuckles....YAY.....

Knuckles are now swapped.

I was just about there AGAIN, and then I broke the banjo bolt WTF...

Now I have to wait till tomorrow. I oredered new banjo bolts for both sides and new washers.

Check this spindle out. This is the shit I got sold to me. Or should I say that I bought.

Going to the wrecking yard tomorrow. Need to get some thing that I have been thinking about lately.

-Visor clips
- Washer Fluid Nozzles
- Front brake calipers (to paint, since I cant take the ones off my car now to paint and let sit to dry)
- Speedo with tach
- Wiring Harness for Headlights
- maybe fogs
- AND I REALLY WANT TO FIND COLOR MATCHED DOOR HANDLES.

Who knows what else I will find while I'm there?

I made out well this morning.

I got

-visor clips
- A couple pairs of nozzles
- harness for headlights

HAHA and then I found

- leather mtx Shift Knob YES!
- Deck lid carpet

If anybody wants to buy one ther were two other deck lid carpets that I ca go pull for you.

I almost had clear side markers but one ended up being destroyed and the one one I first saw was cracked.

I have some questions in general discussion about pulling some stuff.
