idle issue...

idle issue...

Post by Neon4Life » Mon Jun 06, 2011 12:23 pm

yeah i think i got a problem with my TPS sensor but just making sure it is the sensor before i buy it or go any further.

car starts up, goes down to idle but fluctuates between emm lets say 700 & 900 RPM. Also when i hit the gas pedal it takes it a second to rev up as if i had a vacuum leak.

A vacuum leak is likely to increase idle, so you can probably rule that out. A bad TPS could cause the stumble when you hit the throttle, as well as an erratic idle. Sounds like the culprit. If that doesn't do it, I would look at the IAC to make sure it isn't sticking.

No codes besides the Solenoids one wich I know why those are there, I think I have both a vacuum leak & bad TPS. My clamp from turbo to hot side pipe wasn't on tight & I ordered a TPS sensor t local parts store. If that don't work then ill return te sensor but now I got a new problem as well.

I wasn't able to start the car after removing the intake to get to the turbo clamp. Umm car tries to start then I get FUSE come up on the dashboard. I still gt power to everything but nothing on fully starting. I checked fuses aleady. .idk what happened..

First, pop-start that bitch. Then, once you get it to turn over, wiggle the TPS wires to see if you can change the idle at all.

ok so the car idles well better than it did yesterday. changed the TPS sensor.

Got another problem.. still when i hit the gas pedal its like the car wants to die then after about 2 seconds or 3 it revvs, also my Boost gauge starts reading crazy, i can from inside my car hear like a vacuum noise somewhere and as i put my ear closer to the radio bezel area i can hear it more but idk if thats the turbo sound or what..

Is the IAC mounted properly? There are two mounting holes for it, but if it's bolted into the upper hole, it's partially blocked, it needs to be bolted so the plug is facing upwards.

Do a boost leak test. Fix the leaks. Try again.

I fixed the problem. Believe it or not 3 of my plugs was gapped the same & 1 was off. That musta been it cause I didn't fiddle with anything else this morning & gas pedal works fine now without any stumble.

The hissing noise was doo to them vac lines going to hvac but I fxed hat too. :-)
