Rear ended by a Ford Excursion...

Post by opyr8yr » Wed Dec 28, 2005 12:25 pm

Here's my 05 SX after being rear ended by a Ford Excursion going about 60 kmh, I was at a complete stop, about $8,000 in damage.
Bitch hit the passenger side rear corner then continued to go all up the passenger side, note the mirror missing. God damn soccer mom's.

Yeah insurance is definitely covering it, the quote was $8000 because I had it brought to the primo collision place in town, I can post more pics but basically the whole rear end needs replacing including the back window (scratched to shit) the damage extends all the way up the passenger side, windows need to be replaced on passenger side due to scratching as well, front quarter panel is fucked, one wheel etc.. And of course those windows are tinted so they will have to be tinted again and the impact somehow messed up my 2 way fm starter/alarm, so that will need to be replaced to and its about $1200.

As for the cell phone, I dont know, likely though. Will be seeing her in court either way.

I asked the guy at the collision place if he could replace the trunk with a CF one, the side mirrors with M3 and the front quarter panels with slotted (gill?) ones. He said maybe :)

Wow that sucks. It adds up alot quicker than you would think, but at least its not totaled.

If you do go w/ aftermarket fenders, I'll go ahead and warn you, thats going to be alot of work to get them to line up right and everything and all of the ones Ive seen dont have bodylines already cut in.

Damn, wouldn't an insurance company total the car out if it was an $8000 claim on a Neon? :?

Yeah, seriously! I'm not gonna take the car out for the rest of the winter now lol

But, as long as you're okay, the insurance covers everything, and that woman is completely wrong (which it seems like it), then there are no worries ;)

i second that. im overly obsessive and meticulous when it comes to my r/t and i had 3 incidents just yesterday alone! and ive never f-ed up like that before...

1) backing off of lift at meineke (had to get header welded to exhaust... which they screwed up something as simple as that) and i guess i came off a little too fast and rubbed the underside of the front bumper

2) pulling onto a ramp at work i rubbed my 15" winter wheel and took a little piece out of the lip. i was mad at first but then i realized that these rims are going to be taking much more abuse this summer, and that was the reason why i bought them in the first place, so as not to scuff my 16" silverstones with the good tires ... .... its debatable

3) backing out of a spot at work, some dipshit left a plastic container filled with some heavy tools out behind my car in the dark and i backed into it. looks like it bent one of my exhaust tips at a wierd angle and it scuffed the rolled part of the back bumper

what has this world come to!? why!? why me!?

Why do people insist on driving vehicles that can be seen from the moon? I don't get it. :(

I was hoping it would be a write off so I could trade up to an SRT-4 however the adjuster says it would have needed 10G+ in damage to be a writeoff. I was tempted to go to the storage yard at 3am and beat the shit out of it a little more and ask for it to be re-appraised :P

 It wouldn't take too much to get an extra $2000 worth of damage.

Hey, I'm an excellent driver. And yes, with bigger vehicles, like the FedEx trucks. My training test with that thing was a b!tch. But I never hit a single thing. 8) And I've never hit anything with my neon. Excursions are HUGE and I don't even like driving one, and I drove something bigger! Okay so maybe I just don't like driving Fords.
