Interior lighting

Post by Silver ACR » Wed Dec 28, 2005 12:49 pm

Anyone know a good place to tap into the dome light circuit? I'm planning on switching over to an LED interior lighting system that operates fron the existing door switches.

Thanks. Care to share just where you tapped into the circuit? Wire color, location, etc?

but doesn't turn of if i open my door.

found the yellow - doortrigger wire in the kick panel ... but need a + also ... thinking on tapping it from dome light.... but can't seem to find wires ... or how to remove interieur roof ?

found the constand 12 v pink on doortrigger ... but is constand so need to have a wire that only gives my 12 v when doors are open ?

Pull the dome light out of the headliner and you can probably get a feel for the wires. If I recall correctly, they went across the headliner down the drivers (passenger if you're RHD) pillar. But don't qoute me on that, yours might be different. Not sure about the wire colors though or that they would be the same.
Also, thread ressurection ftw. :)

^^ Is right. Just pull from the wires at the dome light. The wires do indeed run down the driver side c pillar. Caution though. Don't know what type of set up you are going with. The dome light is a ground switched if I remember right. Meaning the dome light always has power going to it and the door switch either cuts or gives ground to the light making it turn on and off.

Ok I see what you need.

I can't think of any wire off the top of my head that isn't 12v + constant for the door switch. You might have to wire in your own.
