Programming PCM/ TCM

Post by Gnuserup » Mon Jun 13, 2011 1:43 pm

Who knows, what all could be programmed with the Chrysler-Programmer (whatever the name for it really is ...).

So what I think to know is - Transponderkey, remote, alarmfunction

Is there any reason to programm ABS if formerly not present, Autostick (my actually problem) if formerly not present, anything else ?

VIN, mileage ??

Thanks guys

With the DRBIII (that's the name you are looking for) can program a different SKIM and VIN to a PCM. It can also let you view what options are present in a car (S/C, A/C, etc.). Most options like that are learned by the PCM once they are installed or removed. When I deleted my A/C, the next time I looked at my options in the PCM, it said my car did not have A/C installed. Pretty neat.

To be honest, there may be even more you can do with the DRB, but I haven't really played around that much with it. One thing you cannot change is mileage however.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

hmm, thanks so far. Is there anywhere a manual for the DRBIII ? It would really be very interesting, if there is any chance to go on using my PCM AND do some upgrades (e.g. Autostick  )
Or might the only reason be to get a PCM with all needed features already on it and just change the VIN ...

Have been calling two chrysler dealers today.

Funny - the first did not knew, that the neon ever has been available equipped with autostick, but he said, usually the pcm should recognize the existence of installed components like it does with speed control.
... but I learned it is doing not with e.g. the alarmfunction, which has explicitly to be activated.

The other has heard of the autostick (trustable dealer so far) on the neon and is somehow more willing to give it a try, but unfortunatelly their electrician is on holiday.

Might there be a known trick to let the pcm learn new or changed functions like disconnect the battery for 7 hours and reconnect 5 minutes after midnight while letting your cat bla bla bla ?

hmm - no one any suggestions ??

Had a new idea today... As I was using the power plug to test the Autostick situation, could that be the cause, that the PCM does not recognize it ? The shifter had to get power on off-run-start via C2 ignitionswitch, but the power outlet only has power on run-acc via C1 ignition switch - so off-start is missing.

On which key position is the pcm checking the installed components ?

Since you are entering uncharted waters (for the US anyway), I don't know how much help we will be with your questions. As far as key position, the key will need to be ON, and running in most cases. I don't know if it takes x number of starts for the PCM to list a new componant or not.

If you know someone who has access to a DRB, have them play around with it and see what they can do.

cool  I love that :D

Next weekend I´ll try to give a constant power to the plug and if this won´t work also, I´ll go to a friend who has a workshop for atx-repairs. He never had done this mod anywhere before, too. He hasn´t got a truely DRBIII but with his tool he would be able to reset the TCM he said.
Will see and hope the best.

Tried with A/S-switch connected directly to the batterie, but still won´t work. Next step is to try to get into the pcm - options...

As a result of a www-search I found that I´m really not the first and not the only who wanted to make a Autostick-mod

http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=s ... &mode=full

But it seems that much people were just talking about but less really tried. At least it seems that it has to be totally easy, but could fail for a wrong TCM or Software, could be the right hardware, but but a wrong software.

So I am at the point again, that I have to get a look to the features of my PCM/TCM andif there will be a way to get that thing activated.

As I failed to get the autostick running with a DRBIII today, I searched around a bit more and came to the end that maybe the pcm has to be reprogrammed. I find some pcms on ebay and the sellers advise to reprogram after installed.
Has anyone done this ?
I mean - might this be the moment to choose or is the dealer just reprogramming the features by taking the vin or is he just reprogramming vin (and maybe the mileage) and nothing else.

 Hey Dante, play around with it and see what you can do :P

Dante already said, "MILEAGE" cannot be reprogrammed.

yeah - I know, but the one I visited yesterday said it wouldn´t be the biggest problem, at least if Iwould ask backyard workshops.
And there has to be an option ...

maybe just for some.
