Turn boost down

Post by EDieter » Mon Jun 20, 2011 9:48 pm

I have a super 20g hahn turbo, my question is, if I want to turn boost down do I replace sprig in wastegate actuator or shorten the bar that opens the wastegate?

i didnt mean cutting the bar or anything. Some of the bars can be shorten or lengthened at any time by twisting the end piece. But I didnt know if that or the spring is what would turn it down.

the adjuster on wastegate actuators is only for adjusting the flapper to full closed at resting...

over time, it is possible (but not probable) that it will loosen and lengthen (causing the flapper to be open when it should be closed). you use the adjuster to pull that back to where it should be.

Gotcha, so a less stiff spring would turn boost down. To turn up get a stiffer spring. Should I be able to just loosen bolt on top of actuator to make spring less stiff and turn boost down?

not sure of what kind of WG actuator you have but if it has a threaded rod and and lock nut then yes if you loosen the lock nut and the loosen the threaded stud it SHOULD lower your PSI. Make small adjustments at first and test carefully to make sure that it actually did what you wanted it too and not the opposite.
