Cleaned the bay on the R/T...

Post by logikfive » Fri Jun 24, 2011 6:16 pm

Finally did this, been wanting to do it since spring but haven't had much time between my Trans Am and Durango.

Unfortunately I still need to do my timing belt and fix the AC compressor, which locked up and broke my serpentine belt, so now I have no power steering which totally blows, but hey.. atleast my engine bay is cleaner! I need to get another valve cover at the junkyard and some radiator brackets and powdercoat them, just haven't had time. :(

Overall shes been a good little beater, drove it a few months ago to North Carolina and back problem free, but when I got home the AC compressor started making noise and I knew it was a downhill battle after that. Got her with just over 130,000 miles on her in February, shes got 141,000 on her now.

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Looks good, just run the shorter non a/c belt and you'll be fine.

I thought about going with a non-AC belt, but I'm going to be fixing the AC, so it would be a waste of money in the long run. I've already got the new compressor and timing belt, just lack the time and rely on the car too much to put it down for a few days. (I put around 40-50 miles a day on it) All I really need to buy is a new water pump and timing belt tensioner to do the job, which is pennies when you take into consideration the compressor itself set me back $300.

I'm in the process of ripping my Trans Am apart as well and that strangely sucks up most of my time and money.
