I just bought a magnum intake manifold. I just got it sandblasted and ceramic coated. Before i install it and close it up, i was wondering if there was a way to test the butterflies. The last thing i want is to install it and wire everything without really knowing if its working. I know it has a red and black cable, so i was wondering if it was just red to (+) and black to (-) to the battery?
thanks

touch the power wires to a car battery and see if you hear it snap open inside.. red is positive black is ground.. I'll get you some wiring instructions when i get a chance to look at mine.. its pretty easy though.

Yeah, just hook it up to a 12V power supply (I used my drills battery pack) and see if they snap open.

well i keep testing it, when i connect it, it opens but it never closes with or without power. I have to push it close. Is it the springs, am i suppose to twist it to create tension so it closes by itself??

What mine does is when you give it power it opens, once you disconnect it they should close. If they actually open when you connect it, might be something inside thats not letting it close. Is it hard to push it back into place?

Sorry i haven't replied to your pms yet.. Id say that actuator is either dieing, or the return spring for it is jammed up. When you install the actuator motor, is has to be slid onto the butterfly shaft, and then turned slightly until its bolts holes line up. This sets the return spring in the proper position. Might be where your getting your trouble.

I've done that in so many ways, one thing i do remember is that when i opened the manifold for the very first time the butterflies were 1/3 opened, im assuming it was supposed to be fully closed
