I'm having a strange problem on a 2002 Neon. The keyless entry system is not working properly. The system works fine as long as a door is open (locks and unlocks the doors, releases the trunk latch, and the panic button works). Once you close the doors, after about 10 seconds the system no longer works. If you open a door it begins working again.
Another strange thing that happens is if you hit a button on the remote when the system is not working (after doors have been shut for 10 seconds) as soon as you open a door the system performs the operation of whatever button you pushed (the module receives the signal but doesn't perform the operation until a door is opened).
I'm trying to figure out if the RKE module is bad and needs replaced or if there is something else going on. What times out the dome light once you shut a door (dome light stays on for about 5-6 seconds after shutting the door)? Seems like whatever times the light off is also shutting some power down to the remote entry system after 10 seconds.
Any help is appreciated. Dealer said they have never heard of this issue before.

No, there are no other problems.
I've had this problem for quite some time. Recently I had some odd headlight and tail light issues that turned out to be the multi function switch and melted connector. I replaced both the MFS and wiring harness connector and hoped this might fix the keyless entry problem but it didn't (headlights and all are fine now).
