Went to the drag strip: Trans didn't make it :(

I have to get other pics uploaded still, but we went to the Canadian Neon Nationals yesterday, here in Sparta, Ontario.

Car ran ok all day, but slower due to temps and a crushed air filter. We were entered in the racing competition and my first (and last run) was a 12.17 @ 110mph...

With an exploding transmission:

The trans is done, I hope that the Quaife and the FX700 are okay, but there was oil everywhere

Didn't feel anything unusual on the run, considering it still ran hard, but something done broke lol.

Sweet vid. I just keep watching from 1:00-1:20 over and over. And damn, that's a looooong way to drive back to the pits with a blown trans.

YOU CUT YOUR HAIR!!!

Long shutdowns are a good thing. Didn't really seem that long to me though.

NYIRP in western NY is the king of long shutdown areas. Fuel dragsters can stop without a chute there and have no worries of hitting the sand.

It's actually somewhat short compared to other tracks. The video does make it seem kind of long though. Last year they had a nasty bump near the end of the shutdown. It almost put me into the forest lol

I dislike short shutdowns.

The track local to me has a short shutdown, imo, and I don't know how the 270mph cars slow down in time other than hitting both chutes and getting on the brakes very hard. When slowing from 130mph you have to be on the brakes shortly after the stripe, not hard but you have to be on them.

No it does not, looks like something punctured the casing spraying fluid onto the exhaust....

Transmission bellhousing is cracked. Badly. Need to find a new trans asap and get things back together.
