Screw you.....whoever it was
Well I got to wake up to a nice surprise this morning. Someone decided to break into my neon n wife's sportage and steal our gps units. They didn't take the power cords(I ran them behind the dash on both cars) or the suction cup holders. Just trashed the inside of both cars and left. I just wish I could find out who it was cuz all I would need is 5 min in a room alone with them. I think I'm going to have a stake out tonight and see what happens. Can u say ruger time.

Yeah for their sake they better hope someone else finds them before I do. It's crazy cuz I was up til 4:30 am last nite too and it must have happened between then n 6:30 am when I got up. They got balls I'll give em that but won't have em long. My navi was a old one that was prolly 7 -8 years old but my wifes was the Tom Tom xl 7" screen one. Less then a year old.

That suction cup mark on the glass, if they have been mounted on the glass, is a dead giveaway there are goodies inside to the crooks.
On my Neon, I had the mount disc stuck under the dash lip just to the right of the steering wheel. It was the perfect location while also keeping that telltale mount disc out of sight.
I've yet to find a good mount solution for the Fit.

Def good to know n I will keep that in mind on our new ones def Thanx. To be honest I thought that gps units were a thing of the past for crooks but guess I was wrong. I know they were a hot item years ago just not now but u learn something new everyday. Currently in stake out mode too. Lol. Next investment is some home security cameras. Already got the dogs gun and now just gotta get a 10ft barbed wire fence put up n cameras of course then let someone try something. Lol. Ima bout to go call of duty on their a$$

I've been looking into a setup for my wife's DD indash that I got her it has the connections for a navi just gotta figure what I can use. It's a Bose 6 1/2" touch screen. If I can get something for that, that would be ideal. For mine I'll prolly just pick up another cheapO since when we travel we use hers since we have two kids and two more on the way.

I leave the mount in the car, but take the GPS out of the car with me most of the time. I only leave it in the car in certain places where I know I don't have to worry about it. I've got a Case Logic case that holds the GPS and fits into my back pocket.Paul56 wrote:That suction cup mark on the glass, if they have been mounted on the glass, is a dead giveaway there are goodies inside to the crooks.
The charger/traffic transmitter cable is run under the dash and comes out where the VIN plate is, so there's no hiding that either.
It's nothing fancy, a Garmin nuvi 1300, but still, some a-hole would just "have to have it."

Don't do anything stupid because in the end it's just simple property.

I wouldn't shoot anyone unless I feel my life was threatened but doesn't mean I wouldn't scare em a little. Ur right it is just property and not that important of property either but I really hate when unauthorized people "borrow" things from me. Had a neighbor get robbed at gun point last year so I don't trust anyone up here. I have kids so if anyone breaks in they obviously don't have good intentions. So I won't either. Stake out was good cuz nothing happened.
Man that sucks. People who steal stuff is one of my biggest pet peeves...just think of it this way. At least it was a removble GPS. My buddy got his car broken into and the in-dash system ripped out...they did so much electrical damage ripping out the wires that the insurance company had to mark the car as totaled. Yeowtch.

Speaking of stolen GPS units, if a GPS can pinpoint exactly where you are, how come these companies haven't come out with some way to retrieve stolen ones? There should be a way to find your GPS if it gets stolen. It would be as easy as writing the serial number down, keeping it somewhere safe, and if it gets stolen, type it in on Garmin's or Tom Tom's website, and voila, there's my GPS. I love technology, but sometimes the simple stuff gets overlooked by manufacturers.
