Dash speaker crossover

Post by trvlngcow » Fri Jul 22, 2011 1:49 am

I was thinking about replacing my stock dash speakers because one of them is a little buzzy. I don't want spend a lot but I would like to do it right. I thought the Kenwood KFC-835C would be a good choice, or something like it.

What kind of crossover could I install with the new speakers to insure they don't see bass?

Stock stereo? If so, IIRC you dont need a crossover because the original dash speakers were just spliced into the front door speakers somewhere along the wiring harness. if you were truely worried about it then you could pick up a set of Bass Blockers

Aftermarket stereo. Not sure if I am going to keep the stock wires. Those look like exactly what I need if I re-wire. Thx!

The factory installed speakers are equipped with "Bass Blockers".

I cut the oem connectors, etc and soldered them onto the replacement speakers for plug and play.

If you replace the dash speakers with tweeters, those will/should have the needed blockers already installed. Tho you will need to make an adapter plate for those.

Kicker makes tweeters for our dashes. The DS series ones are a direct fit.
Drove my neon until it was killed in a flood.
