Any way to put a adjustable voltage regulator on?

I am trying to figure out how I can put a adjustable voltage regulator on to my 03 . I am wanting to run 16 volts constant to charge my 14 volt audio batterys . I will be buying a alternator that is high output but I dont want my factory pcm limiting the voltage . anyone have any ideas?

you could do it with a diablosport predator.

Or go to Radio Shack, and explain what you want to do. Similar to this: http://www.angelfire.com/my/fan/MAP_adjuster.html but obviosly not at a 5 volt level. You would need to be able to adjust for 16volts.

Not sure how well the PCM, radio, etc will handle that high of voltage tho. You would also need to disconnect the VR plug on the alternator, and plug the new VR into it. There are kits also available to use a stand alone '70's style VR, but they do not go to 16 volts.

For the $ spent (diablosport) or effort spent, is it worth it?

most vehicles have a power operating range from 12 volts to 16 volts on the accessories. when a voltage regulator goes out it will charge our cars at over 15 volts. the only issues I have seen thus far is the battery boiling over from over charging . in turn causing a short .

what my intention is , is to using a 16 volt battery that has a resting voltage of 14.4 volts .
