Dupli Color Vinyl & Fabric Coating

Post by DodgeEvo » Mon Jul 25, 2011 2:50 pm

Ok thinking about redoing my seats. I though about buying aftermarket ones, but don't mind the SXT seats. There pretty easy on my back. I was wondering if anybody has used the dupli color vinyl and fabric coating or any other type of coating for interiors. I was wondering if someone has used this before on the sxt seats and how it came out and stayed over years. Thanks.

It works on fabric, but it will fade. High use areas you will see it fade in a matter of months.

I personally recommend NOT painting anything. It just doesn't hold up in my experiences.

I feel like it'll fade off onto your clothes

That's what I was worried about and been thinking. What happens on a rainy or humid day, is it going to run and get onto my clothes. I know with the type of seats that the neon has, would it really stick and soke into the cloth at all to form a good bond.

Yeah thats exactly what I was thinking, I don't think it would be a good idea to stain em, but maybe someone has done it before and can chime in

Wow they came out good, specially from being black to brown. Am looking to just do the center of the seat in the front and rears. Also the part on the doors above the handles/arm rest. If anybody else used any other product feel free to comment.

Use a dye, not a coating. That's my opinion if you are going to give it a go.

If I go with it, what is a good company to go with for dye. I know Dupli Color and Rustolenum only have coatings.

Evidently, after doing some reading, even products labeled as "dye" are still coatings. If that is true, I'd go with SEM Classic Coat.

that's true to a point, which is why the prep is so important. i have logged over 3k miles in those seats since they were done and they still look as good as they did in the pics (with exception for the obvious lines that form in all leather/vinyl seats from use).

am just looking to spice up the stock seats with the harnesses and the interior alittle without going bankrupt on buying aftermarket seats or getting them recovered.
