How many of you need cradles?

Post by Cokedoctor » Mon Aug 01, 2011 12:10 am

I never realized cradle problems were common with 2gn's. My silver 2001 Neon ES was immaculate. I just picked up a 2001 R/T yesterday, and the cradle is toast. There is holes around where the control arms meet the cradle, and the metal surrounding it is peeling bad, and growing soft and weak. Wondering who else has been experiencing these problems, BlackRoseRacing told me it's a widespread problem. A new one is expensive; me and my dad are going to the junkyard later this week and are going to try and see if we can locate a decent one in a car in the yard.

I think sometime around 02 they changed the desigm and they don't hold water as bad and don't rot out as much. Mine was starting to get questionable on my 00 before i sold it

This is starting on my 04.

Seen this post and I thought someone was going to make a tubular cradle. Oh, well.

I took some pictures of the cradle tonight, while my car was up on the lift awaiting transmission fluid and balljoints.

Wow, that's bad

I check and clean mine every time I have it on a lift. It's doing good so far *knocks on wood*
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...
