terrible moving experience..

Post by skaterking411 » Fri Aug 05, 2011 5:57 pm

Monday morning I woke up everything packed ready to move into my first hhouse in Akron. I had my mattress in the bed of my dads truck held down with tie downs. Made sure everything was snug to avoid any accidents. I then started the hour long trip to Akron and 5 minutes into the trip I hear a loud ass bang them the rear window shatters and glass goes everywhere then I hear and feel grinding then smell gas.I pulled over immediately and seen gas gushing from under the truck I ran as fast as I could until icould see it had stopped. I went back to the truck grabbed my phone and made the necessary phone calls and noticed a tie down missing. Turns out it snapped and the rachet part hit the window causing it to shatter and it then fell down wrapping around the driveshaft and then hit the gas tank while spinning also ripping the heat shield down. What a freak accident. Just glad nothing caused an explosion. After a day or two my dad cooled down and the truck is getting repaired rite now.

 Holy crap dude! Talk about a freak series of events.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

:withstupid:

Thankfully you aren't the feature story on 1000 Ways to Die.

It reads just like some of those recreations.

Dads can't stay mad forever, especially when it is something as bizarre as that. He is chuckling deep down inside, but will never admit it.

But in the future, carry a roll or two of electrical tape, and wrap the ratchet handles/excess strap in place. It will help prevent anything from coming loose.

Yea I know I am very thankful. And I don't think the actual metal broke it was the strap. They were the crappy ones from harbor freight

How bizarre. Having your own house at 19 is a nice accomplishment though.

That is exactly what I was thinking.

Definitely did the right thing by getting the hell out of there when there was a fire risk.

Glad no one got hurt.
