head gasket question

Sometimes the head will leak at the driver side corner toward the firewall, at least mine did. also take off the oil cap and look at it and inside the valve cover. If the oil is a milky gray color then there is a problem.

Could be a cam seal, if it is coming from the top, but not the rocker cover.

If it is the cam seal(s), you are looking at the same labor as changing a timing belt to fix it. It is easy to remove/install, but getting to it is the fun part. The cam gear must come off.

I would pull the rocker cover first, as it can be difficult to tell if it is leaking. You can tell once it is off by the seating surface if it has been seeping by. I had the same with my rocker cover. Couldn't see oil near it, but once it was off, it was clearly not sealing in the back.

Edit: on DOHC it is prolly easier to change.

Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
