Now I can say I've been in an earthquake
Info so far says the epicenter of the 5.8 quake was in Mineral VA (about 71 miles from me) and the quake was felt as far north as upstate NY and down to NC.
I know this isn't a big deal to the west coast people, but for a guy who hasn't been through one, it was a bit unnerving

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I know how you feel Dante. We didn't get many earthquakes while I lived in WA State. But I can definitly say the first one that you go through definitly gets your attention.

I think the worst part was for the techs in the shop. While they could feel the ground shaking, it was the cars bouncing on the lift that really freaked them out. We didn't have any fall luckily.

My first quake... When it shook, I was standing in the middle of my kitchen. Felt like I was surfing on the kitchen floor.

Drove my neon until it was killed in a flood.

Our guys got out pretty quick once we figured out what the hell was happening. You don't realize just how much stuff is just hanging over your head in a shop till something like this happens. Everything was shaking and moving up there...duct work, lights, gas lines, air lines, roof support beams, etc.
Pretty scary shit.

I felt it up here. Was sitting in my office when I felt the chair start moving like I was on a boat. I thought I was passing out, but then everything on the walls started to shake around.
We've had 5.5's hit up here before. Fun stuff.

During a quake I have been on the 16th floor at a desk
with a printer sitting on a table beside the desk.
Suddenly the table with the printer starts swaying back
and forth and seemingly does so for about 30 seconds.
After that I put away the Captain Morgan bottle.

I was walking across a parking lot, and the chain link fence started shaking. I turned to my buddy, and I was like "WTF! The fence is shaking!" We thought it was a sump pump or something, so we got in the van, and it was shaking too, thought it was a misfire. Then, I cut the van off. Van still shaking. At that point, I didn't know what it was, but I got outta there before everyone else did.

So many neons so little time.

When exactly did it hit? I felt nothing. Am I just dense?
Unless it happened when I was driving. In which case, I can't feel anything over the coilovers.

Yeah, I didn't feel a thing, but apparently they evacuated most of the buildings in downtown Akron, which is about 20 miles from my work.
I guess it just depends on where you were.
Edit:
an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9 occurred at 1:51 p.m. today

Some felt it in Indianapolis but I was in northern IN driving in my work vehicle so I knew nothing about it until it hit the Chicagoland news on the car radio. Weird since I was just telling my best friend over the weekend of my plan this November to secure shelving in my garage to the wall with hooks and straps so that stuff won't fall on the SRT when we have another one.
