Sqeeky belts :/

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Sqeeky belts :/

Post by synviper » Wed Aug 24, 2011 4:30 pm

So during my big turbo install i had an issue with misfiring which i tested to see if bubbles in the coolant lines were causing the ecu to freak out.

Obviously i had to bleed the neck to try and get the bubbles out which resulted in alot of coolant getting on the belts/pully assembly.

Recently ive noticed that only during cold starts do i hear the belts chirping probably 45seconds to a minute after the intial startup and then it goes away. UNTIL, i give the car and throttle response. Driving home i thought the crickets were just really loud until i came to a stop light and the sound was gone (this was after an hour drive home thinking it would go away :tardbang:).

I have checked my belts and none of them seem to be frailed or cracked, so could it be the belt tensioner? I just dont know what would be failing when the sound only comes on during throttle response.

Thanks in advanced for any help.

figure you which belt its coming from first. easy way to do this is to take the accessory belt off and drive around and see if its still there or not. if it's still there then its your alt belt
