passenger side motor mount

Post by crzycarfreak » Mon Aug 29, 2011 9:14 pm

hey guys ima newbie here but i just recently purchased a 04 sxt manual neon with 50000 miles. From what i can see the passenger side motor mount needs to be replaced, not the struts but the mount that is kinda in the frame. Has anybody here ever done this and where can i find a good mount that will last along time.

If you Search for it, you will find it.

welcome to the forums of neon enthusiasts, we (more like everyone
but me) knows more than they should about these vehicles. mostly
everything from tire tread to the paint on the roof of the car has
been discussed, and the search function works quite well for finding
these discussions. don't feel bad asking a question if you can't find
any information on the subject, but things like these motor mounts
happen to wear and eventually need replacing, which will be easy to
find on our forums.

AFIK, the oem mount is the only type available. The SRT mount might be a bit tougher.

5086709AB 2.0 SUPPORT-ENGINE MOUNT $107.00

5085184AB Engine - Mounts - Mount Mount, neon, right - 2.4l dohc 2004 $34.85 :tardbang: (I'm finding that hard to believe) Might want to double check with your local parts person.

I bought a used SRT right side mount for mine. It was the same design as the regular '01 mount I had.

To install, the FSM recommends pulling the motor mount plate from the engine. (Like doing a timing belt change) The mount flange should be scribed so the new one is bolted back the same.

Since I was replacing the MTX mount also, I used two floor jacks under the engine/trans, and moved it to the driver side enough to get the right mount out of the frame. either way, it is a PITA.

There is no "How To" so a simple search won't help without weeding through 6 pages.... But if say you have posted in a thread, it makes it easier to find. I suggest doing a search first before suggesting one, to see how easy it is to find some of this stuff. Granted, where it is stickied/how to, I can see the point. But to search through, in some cases, 15 pages of someone's PL or thread is a bit ridiculous.

What is that engine support mount for $107? The actual motor mount can be had for like $30- Anchor brand.

It is the mount/support in the right side frame rail. The one that the motor mount plate is bolted to.

The reason some of the mounts are more is becasue some are fluid filled. IIRC, the ATX ones are fluid filled, where the SRT and MTX 2.0 are just rubber. The one in my ACR is rubber, as are all of the SRTs I've seen (and yes, they are interchangeable). Juan's 03 ATX mount was oil filled.

I bought the ATX replacement mount (the "rear engine mount") for like $30. Whether it's filled or not, I dunno.

The only option the parts book for '01 gives is 4668 192AC which is superceeded by 5086709AB $107.00 There is no ATX/MTX option shown. ? The SRT mount I bought looked exactly like the "01 I have pictured above. I can't recall now, but it may have been a bit wider? I got it used, so for all I know, it might not actually be an SRT mount. But I doubt the seller would knowingly do that.
