Shift cable?
So i was driving the other day and my car got stuck in i think 2nd gear and wouldnt shift so i got home and looked under hood and the shift cable located under the battery came off so i put it back on and everything worked great but it looks like theres supposed to be some kinda clip that holds it on and i called the dealership and they will only sell me a whole cable can someone please help me out.

There is no clip that goes there. The bushings wore out.
Since the dealer does not offer the bushings seperately, you need to get some Booger Bushings. Jeff B makes and sells them.
You should have done this already. Just sayin

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

That or ModernPerformance sells them as well for $19.

Yes. Just pull the black one out, and install the (color of your choice) bushing into the white and black yokes. Then push down until it snaps into place.2low4uneon wrote: Are they easy to install?

If you think it shifted great before, wait till you put a set of these in. Booger Bushings are one of the upgrades every MTX neon should have.2low4uneon wrote:Yeah i know but its always shifted great and i barley drive the car lol.

What kind of shifter is that? It's not a stock lever. eBay Chinese thing? I can't stand those poorly made things.
The one that is under the shifter looks like it has a steel pin that is made too long. It will probably be just fine like that as long as it doesn't pop off on it's own. The stock shifter lever has that bushing pointing to the "outside" of the shifter body.

I wish these aftermarket companies would stop trying to reinvent the wheel for things like that, it's wrong. If you have problems with that bushing later, send me an email and reference this post so I can be reminded.

The ones on the shifter do make a small difference even with good OEM bushings. The only slack I have now, is the worn shift selector bushings in the transmission.
