What happened?

Post by Dylanderson » Sat Sep 03, 2011 2:51 am

Installed my return line last night and everything went great. Used an 03 fuel rail so I have the regulator after the rail. Drove home from friends house that night and to school the next morning. When I was leaving school I got to a red light and the car just dies on me. I tried cranking it and it wouldn't start. Turned the key ON position and heard the fuel pump prime and then I checked the fuel pressure gauge and it read the normal 49/50. Sat on the curb for a little and decided to try to start it again and what do you know it starts right up. Made it home and parked the car for the night, but the next morning when I tried starting it it took a couple of seconds to start while it was cranking. Made it to work around 1pm and when I was leaving around 9pm it did had the same problem trying to start again. What could be the problem, I don't want to worry about my SRT dying every time I get to a light. I am throwing the code P0627 if that helps. Thanks!

There is some problem in the fuel pump relay circuit. This is the circuit that controls the relay, not the circuit that goes to the fuel pump. Edit: You would not get a code if the fuel pump, or the fuse has an issue. It would just die

It could be a bad relay coil, relay socket connection, or one of the components that control the relay. (PCM, ASD relay...)

I would try swapping the FP relay with the horn relay, if that doesn't cure it, then the (now) FP relay with the ASD relay.

Also remove and check any related fuses for corrosion at the contacts. Maybe spray some WD40 into the slides before re installing, to help clean/keep any future corrosion to a minimum.

Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.

Yea, before installing the return line we pulled the fuel pump relay while the car was running to run all the fuel out of it. While it was out my friend noticed a little bit of rust on the contacts of it. Im going to disconnect the battery to reset the PCM and see if that does anything for now.
