Could really use a guru of wiring

Questions about axles, transmissions, differentials, pretty much anything that connects the engine to the wheels, this is the place for those questions.

Could really use a guru of wiring

Post by pocket ace » Mon Sep 12, 2011 8:32 pm

My friend and I did a complete auto to manual swap on Sunday in my 2000 le. I put in a 3:94' with a manual PCM from a 2000 manual car as well.

Car is up and running, we grounded the neutral safety switch, I have to go to a yard and grab a re harness for the plug to wire in the reverse lights properly.

My issue is the vss wiring. I read somewhere that the automatic harness is wired differently then the manual harness for some reason. The plug plugs in with no issues but I get no speedometer, and I'm throwing a code for the sensor.

If someone could help enlighten me as I've searched and can't find diagrams of automatic and manual pin layouts in the plugs.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Is it possible the wiring from the VSS sender to the PCM goes through a different connector/pin location between the sender to PCM? (It is a 2000) The color code should remain consistent throughout the circuit. The sender in the MTX may be bad also. Or worse case the drive ring is broken on the differential. (This would require splitting the MTX to repair) But the upside would be you could install diff pin tabs while you're there. :P

Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.
