Fog light wiring

Post by NonBusto27 » Wed Oct 05, 2011 10:21 pm

Is there a difference between the 2gn 03-05 fog light wiring harness and the SRT-4 fog light wiring harness?

Yes. 03-05 is a harness that plugs in a cannector on the core support. SRT fog wiring is part of the main harness with all the other lighting connectors and such. It's not a separate harness.

I have the wiring harness that plugs into the core support. and the bulb connectors are the same. My problem is that since i have the SRT front bumper installed the wiring is to short and cannot make it from one light to the other. If i were to extend the harness would that work? as long as all the fuses were in place and the MFS was installed that had the fog light switch on it?

that should work just fine just make sure to heat shrink the wires so moisture can't get in.

k, cool. Is the wire under the shielding different than normal wires so that i know which ones to go out and buy. I'm pretty new to wiring and the best way to go about working on that.

Any wire the same gauge will work. Preferably copper. I would solder them if at all possible, along with shrink tubing. IIRC Lowe's or Home depot sells shrink tubing that has a sealer.

I know Del City has it.
You have to copy/paste the link for it to work.

k , I'll look into that. I'll check the shrink tubing that i have and see if its insulated or not. I'm not sure if they are all the same.

No, it isn't. The shrink tubing with the glue/sealer is something that has been on the market for only a few years that I know of.

I have also used dielectric grease on the connection, then slid the shrink tubing over it, and heated.

Yes, extending the wires is fine. I did it on mine without issue.
