SRT Swap, Rear brakes locking under light braking. HELP
Alright. Long story short.
I bought a 2000 neon with a full srt4 swap. They swapped over the SRT Master Cylinder and abs ICU. all the ABS Brake lines, all harness.
The car is wired for ABS but I have no wheel speed sensors.
SO the car had neon front disc and rear drums. Brakes were terrible so i swapped out the rear for srt rear disc and freshened up the stock front neon brakes.
Now. Under moderate braking to heavy braking the rear will lock up long before the front is at full braking power.
Is this because of the lack of Wheel speed sensors disabling the ABS causing full unproportioned braking power to the rear? This really boggles my mind.
I cant find a schematic for the 4 brake lines that come off the ICU. I have no idea if these brake lines are in the right spot on the Control unit or does it matter since they are electronically proportioned? Theres no markings or nothing in the SM that states which brake lines go where.
Any help would be appreciated. This is a safety concern esspecially under emergency braking situations.
The 4 brake lines coming off the actuator are as follow:
Closest to the front - Left Front wheel
Closest to the firewall - Right Front wheel
Both Center lines off Actuator go to the Rear wheels.
Is this correct? Or does it matter? Even if the ABS is disabled it should not lock up so easily in the rear.
Thanks guys
Matt

can you remove the abs controller and master cyl? and put back in your stock master cylinder? ditch the abs stuff altogether to compare. i swapped to rear disc and used the same master cyl from my drum brake car no ABS and had zero problems, im guessing the ICU doesnt like whatevers goin on with no sensors etc...
so if you never plan to use the ABS, then ditch that whole setup for a stock one.
edit, i think the wheel speed sensors are basically a vital part if ur using the ICU and abs setup...
dont feel like posting the full FSM for it..

Pretty much the ABS controller bases its braking proportioning on the speed sensors. If that is lacking the system doesn't know how to function correctly. so you'll either need to ditch the whole ABS system or get rear axles that have the speed sensors on them.

Or go with the non ABS 4 disc master cylinder. (and ditch the ABS stuff)

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

Thanks guys. THanks for the info. I dont have the old master cylinder with the 4 ports. So I will have to find a non abs master cylinder or get the abs functional. I have wheel speed sensors but ill have to fix both front tone rings or replace them and get one for the rear.
Or pick up some adjustable proportioning valves.
I autocrossed the car with it this way. It was deff a handful when it came to braking lol, but was quite fun on the track.
