Interior Questions

Post by Getgonesrt » Sun Oct 09, 2011 9:28 pm

Ok hopefully i dont get flamed for this but i have a couple of questions.

1. Has there ever been a 2G Neon with black pillars and headliner?

2. Is there a pillar pod that completly replaces the stock pillar without having to mod anything or attach it to the already exsisting pillar and that has good fitment. I have a dual pod that is just the pod riveted to the stock pillar and want a full pillar.

3. If there are no stock black colored pillars what I am thinking of doing is getting the top of the dash, pillars, and maybe even the headliner flocked. Has anyone ever done something like this and what are everyones thoughts on this? Ive seen a lot of STIs do it and i think it looks pretty good. Not trying to copy just trying to be a little differnt....

As far as I know none came with black headliners/handles I did my old one myself though using duplicolor vinyl and fabric dye it turned out good but does take quite a few coats.

As for the pod yes glow shift makes them I will link it.

So that pod will utilize the factory mounting tabs?

as far as I know from what I have read its a total replacement with its own mounting hardware.

Just email glowshift directly that's their ebay account/listing.

i died the headliner and painted the pillars as well. and yes i know of a bunch of people that do it and like lantern said it takes quite a few coats to cover it decently.

Yes. It screws into the existing one, but will fully cover it. You'll have to drill holes through your stock one for cables etc.

glowshift pillar attaches to the stock one plus it looks shitty. Modern sells a much nicer looking one:

I didn't think the Glowshift looked that bad.

the MPx is also NOT standalone - you have to glue it onto the stock pillar.
and the fitment is like 70%...

Yea what I am looking for is a standalone pod... One that i dont have to use the exsisting factory pillar. Reason is if i do get my interior flocked it would look cleaner with it being all 1 piece...

I think about the only way you will achieve that, is to get an extra pillar, and glass your own pods to it. But how "clean" it becomes, relies on your skills, or the person doing it.

If the neon was just released, you might have a better chance of the aftermarket making a complete mold, but prolly not. No one seems to have done it the first time around.

sooo... With that being said does anyone have really good pictures of either the modern performance one or glow shift one that shows the fitment? Not trying to be a jackass just want to see what i will have to work with if and when i get this stuff flocked...
