HeLp!1! 03 Trans. prob.

Post by 03neonpinto » Tue Oct 25, 2011 12:53 pm

OK Heres what I got, Last year the neon's automatic trans. just died on me. So after ALOT of research, I replaced the shift solenoid , Low and high speed sensors, Then reset the computer. It worked great. well, Until about 2 weeks ago. On a trip, It stopped pulling. I pulled into the parts store and let them run codes.(didn't know key trick at that time) LOW speed sensor bad. So I replaced it, IN THE PARKING LOT, I replaced it 2 times on that trip just to get back home.

It is blowing the tip off the sensor. The plastic end exploded showing the metal tip. Being an old school car guy, This is totaly new to me. Every time I do the key test nothing shows up. I am at a total lost. I can't find any info. about this anywhere.
Old school car guy, Learning tha new stuff.

Not sure on the "low speed" description. There is an input speed and an output speed sensor. My guess is it is somehow getting too far in, or there is something on the gear/parking sprag (depending on the sensor) that is hitting it. Do you know/remember what the code is?

Edit:
P700 codes will not always show up with the key dance.

You may need to get a code scanner to get them. Or rely on AZ.

Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.

P0700 will show up with the key dance, but that's it. A real scanner is needed to get the actual stored codes for the transmission.
