You just need the 41te from an '02, and the TCM, plus the engine bay harness to plug the TCM into. No NGC required. Unless you want NGC, plus the extra expense of the engine to make it work...

Not sure how much MPG you will gain tho. Hwy mileage is a possibility, but city, you may not see much.

For one year... you will be basically going back to most of the 31th wiring for the 5 speed. But hey, it's your car/time/money. But I doubt you would recoup the expense in a year. Kind of defeats the fuel savings you may see.

:withstupid:
If you can't swap to a 5 speed for a year, just wait it out. The benefits of switching from the 3-speed to the 4-speed is almost negligible when considering the time and money you'd spend doing the swap twice.

Doing a 3-speed to a 4-speed to a 5-speed swap in a year for no good reason is way too much work for the end result IMO. Just wait and do the 5-speed swap. Do it once and get it over with.

If you like the practice/adventure, go for it. IIRC the axles from the 41te fit the t350, at least one of them, so you will at least have that much. But you will still be doing some rewiring, and wiring back.
