VIN Decoding

Post by Maddog » Sun Nov 06, 2011 1:05 pm

Where can I find it? I did search, but got only one offsite reference that wasn't individual VIN specific.
Looking for something like what was posted on the org years back for 1gns - sort of a breakdown of what every letter and number means.

Main reason is that my ins company is charging me R/T rates for the '01 ACR. Only thing the same, besides the obvious, is the engine code, "F".
And, I'm curious, as well.

The one on the .org:
http://www.neons.org/vin/
Unknown value in position six
It might take a fairly knowledgeable VIN person to tell you what the "N" means.

Putting an "M" in that position seems to work also, but If it is a typo on your VIN, it might bump the value of your car a little. Is it an N on your registration also?

Not if they are citizens of Mexico. (Which the country is what was meant) :D

They are mexicans, ppl's of the US of A are americans. If they want to drag their heritage into it, that is their choice.
