need to vent

So, I bought a epiphone les paul in 2007,and I have since fell out of the music thing. I posted it on craigs list for sale, and found a guy who wants it.

I tell the wife and she flat out tells me i can't sell it.
Her reasoning is "I want to take lessons some day, and want to play it"
I bought the guitar before her and I even met.
I want to use this money for upgrades to my car.

I just don't understand why I'm not allowed to sell my property?

I'm confused and upset, someone explain it to me

Eh. The way I see it the guitar is yours and you should do what you want with it. While your wife may have a "valid" reason for you to keep it, it isn't her call to make.

But that's how things are done in a rational world. Welcome to marriage where all bets (and logic) are off.

ive sold a few amps because i didnt have the space or the room for them, but unless the guitars have no sentimental attachement and are really low end junkers, hold onto the good stuff
