Non neon audio problem.

Post by synviper » Wed Nov 23, 2011 6:05 pm

Okay so one of my buddies dad installed speakers in his car. The headunit powers up but there is no sound coming from the speakers. I'm going over to his house is there a plan of attack I should go with when diagnosing the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm, they should work even if the polarity is wrong. Did he just re use the factory wiring, or run new wires?

Are the ohms the same as the factory ones? I don't think it would create a no sound situation tho.

I know on the older Pioneer HU's, if the HU was powered up with no speakers, it would fry the output IC, and a new IC would need to be installed to get sound again. I have always made sure the stereo was off after that.

Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.
