t-850 swap
i know its probably been asked before, but how hard would it be to do a t-850 swap on my 2.0l? As far as i know, the only thing i would have trouble with is the half shaft.
any help is appreciated.

alright, well thats a step in the right direction. Now i just need to figure out if anybody has done it before.chipdogg wrote:You'll need SRT starter, clutch, and flexplate for sure. Halfshaft won't bolt to block. Probably need SRT shifter cables.
Does anybody have a good picture of the halfshaft and how/where it mounts?

You'll also need to fabricate a plate to go between trans and engine block. The sheet metal one that goes on before the driveplate. The 2.0 one is for wrong trans, and the SRT one won't properly bolt to your block. At least I don't think it will as it's a different block.
Here's pics:

Looks like you could fabricate a bracket to bolt to backside of block, just gotta make sure it's straight.
Motor mount is different too obviously.

WOW, i was not expecting such detailed pics and so many. With me, my dad, and his buddy, im 100% sure we can fab up some sort of mount to make that work.
thank you so so so so much for the pics man. I really appreciate it !

sweet. yeah i thought i remembered seeing it on neons.orgchipdogg wrote:Yeah a clean 98 Intense blue R/T coupe. Once I finish up this 99 Intense blue R/T coupe this weekend and sell it I'll push that one into garage and start working on getting the SRT-4 dash to fit in there. Winter project.
I guess the only way im going to figure out if this works, is if i pick up an srt trans and try it.
Do you happen to know if the spline on the hubs is the same?

ok, one less thing ill have to worry about. thanks man!chipdogg wrote:Yeah that's the same.
EDIT:
A question i have is, is there axles that would work that arnt equal length? For instance, i know its rare, but i know some of the stratus r/t 's came with a t-850... I wonder if they used an equal length setup.. Or maybe one of the dsm's, stratus's, pt cruisers, etc.. have axles that will work ?

Ok, just found out that the regular neon, and the srt use the same spline inner and outer, now if somebody can help me by telling me measurments of both the srt axles and the regular stock sxt axles, i may have found something interesting out..

Comparing axle lengths won't matter. The transmission is different so you'll have to use the SRT axles. I think inner spline count is different anyways. Passenger Neon axle obviously can't be used as it's 2x longer and doesn't have the right end for the equal length section.
I assumed you know you needed SRT axles.
It'll all fit, SRT's are same unibody anyways.

no, i realize all that man. What im getting at, is i looked up both the Sxt, and the srt and according to online they both have a 32 spline inner, and the outer we know is the same.. What im getting at, is maybe i could run dss stage 5's or somehting similar from the sxt, and just eliminate the half shaft all together. I know it wouldnt be ideal, but it would probably work if the axles were the right length.chipdogg wrote:Comparing axle lengths won't matter. This. I'm sure they can make them w/e length you want. It may be a little more/longer wait, if they actually stock axles, instead of making them to order. If they build them as they get orders, it shouldn't matter too much.

i have a feeling that darrell is going to want more for the bracket, than i can buy a whole god damned srt swap for..
Looks like my only options are going to be making my own mount, or get dss axles.

thats really just a waste of my time. With that timing belt being so skinny, i dont think it will hold up to 400+hp.. Plus id have to have the block modifed and such.. In my eyes, not really worth it right now. Id still like to do it in the near future, but right now i just want a built 2.0LPublic Disturbance wrote:INVUJerry wrote:2.4 sohc??
