Questions About BC Racing BR Coilovers

Post by nerox » Sat Dec 10, 2011 6:13 pm

Im looking at gettin the BC (BR Series) Coilovers for my 2001 R/T and i have a few simple questions:

1) The adjustable damping - what kind of comfort does this go from and to, are we talking Rolls-Royce soft to mega firm or hard to even harder ??

2) Do they have the facility for cars with rear anti-roll bar?

3) do they have adjustable camber or is this only on the RM series?

4) Anything else i should know about them?

Thanks!

1. hard to even harder is my experience with coilovers
2. yes, i'm assuming you're ordering the SRT coilovers anyways
3. not sure, but any strut can be made adjustable by slotting out the bolt holes
4. they're a good product

from erick's website...

The G-03 model is compatible with all 00-05 Dodge/Plymouth Neons, including the SRT4. Keep in mind that the G-02 is a softer ride than the G-03 in either car.

interesting read

so both the G02 and G03 will fit any 2g Neon?

except the G-02s being softer are there any other differences between the G-02 and G-03's ?

1) Generally SRT4 coilovers only allow for one knob to control the rebound and compression adjustment. There are more expensive ones with external reservoirs that will allow for independent damping adjustment.

3) Camber plates are usually included for the front pair, with standard pillow blocks for the rear. Plates are sold to upgrade the rears.

1) the spring rates are pretty high and the dampening helps but will not give you a smooth soft ride.
2) yes they do facilitate sway bars
3) the bc coils have slotted braces at the knuckle as well as having the camber plates.
4) When it comes to the BC coils you want to get the normal ones unless you are making your car a purely track car, which at that point I'd say inverted. Inverted cannot handle the roads.

If you do some searching i'm sure you can find out what setup people are running on BC's and with what kind of results they get out of it.

Damn ... decent ride comfort is a must, aside from going back to stock, what other options do i have to be lowered and relatively comfortable?

It is a decent ride comfort, for coilovers. Sure it's not as comfortable as the 4x4 OEM look, but that is to be expected when lowering a car.

You could get Mopar Stage 1 springs. But it only drops the car 1" IIRC, which I think is still 4x4. But I think it offers the best comfort for lowering springs.

Ok, at the moment i have standard struts and 35mm lowering springs. the ride is nice on the smooth motorways but on the country roads you can feel pretty much any bump in the road and any bump bigger than the size of any iphone (for example) makes the car thump.

in my girlfriends standard civic the bumps arent even noticeable.

i'd like something better than i have now and i appreciate any suspension setup other than factory wont be as comfortable,

the only reason i was looking at the BC's is they are available in the UK for about £700 (US$1100)
pretty much any other brand i'd have to import from the US any pay about $400 delivery plus about 25% import taxes, this would take the price of a $880 set of megans upto about $1600

But

butting into this conversation...I think the best way for me is to buy the Tokico Blues...I already have lowering springs and barring any spring issues I think my ride will be improved with a 400 dollar set of Blues and compared to a grand in coilovers!
I drove My Neon till it "SOLD" And then bought a Mazda 3 Skyactiv

I see.

So the only difference between the SRT and regular BC coilovers, is the SRT ones are a little firmer?
