Well Ive been a rockford fan for years they have had their ups and downs But I think they have finally got some good line ups going..

But if you're going for SPL then I would say look into some memphis stuff. They have come a long way. Also Soundstream is a decent brand as well.

Looking for a kick butt amp for a decent price I have my earthquake D2 AKA the shredder. I was going to stick it up on ebay since I need some cash and Im not into the SPL side of audio anymore.. shoot me a pm and we can talk. its rated at 2000 w rms at 2ohms but birth certificate gave it more like 2500.

the output of the sundown will be greater than the hifonics mate, trust me. but if you really want to go crazy and spend at least $1000 on upgrading your electrical system to handle it you can always get the 2500 version:

Rated power output

----RMS power, 2 ohm linkable/dual mono 5000W x 1CH
----RMS power, 1 ohm mono 2500W x 1CH
----RMS power, 2 ohm mono 1200W x 1CH
----RMS power, 4 ohm mono 600W x 1CH

or the 3500:

Rated power output

----RMS power, 2 ohm linkable/dual mono 7000W x 1CH
----RMS power, 1 ohm mono 3500W x 1CH
----RMS power, 2 ohm mono 1750W x 1CH
----RMS power, 4 ohm mono 750W x 1CH

if you are only looking for power @ 4ohm look into the alpine pdx1.1000 which will do ~1200@4 or the pdxm12 that will do ~1400@4.

the red numbers are the max ratings, which mean nothing irl. since it only lists rms power at 2 and 4ohm i would be very wary of running it daily at 1ohm. what was the bench setup you used to get the numbers you posted, and how long was the test ran for? it seems really of hard to believe you got almost 5k @1ohm for anything more than a millisecond in time.

to be honest it doesn't really matter to me, just pointing out a few things and my opinion. it kinda falls into the to-good-to-be-true realm in that i have never seen an amp that can do 5k at any ohm that can be had for $245. my last 4 channel, which does 100x4, was $550 brand new.

either way it is up to the OP what to buy, the rest of us are just tag-a-longs :)
