What else could it be? Or is it just normal to refill oil Every month?

I am not sure. My car does make a HELL of a lot of what you guys call valve clatter or what ever else you call it.

How many miles? Did you switch brands of oil? While not common so much these days, switching brands sometimes will do that.

How thoroughly did you look for leaks? check around the bell housing area for CPS, or main seal leaks. The rocker cover can leak on the rear and be hard to see it. The front cam seal can leak too, but the timing cover hides it well.

If the valve seals are bad on the exhaust, you won't see it on the plugs, and it doesn't have to be bad enough to blow blue smoke to consume oil. The catalytic converter will clean up a considerable amount of oil smoke also.

Worn guides will contribute to valve noise. After having new guides on my exhaust, it was scary quiet, compared to how it did sound.

I looked pretty good, it was wet down on teh bottom of the oil pan. But it wasnt oil. The motor is bone dry. I am thinking its somethign internal. The vavle clatter is quit bad imo.

How much for valve guides? and to replace, just take off teh valve cover and take apart valve lash thing?

It is at 57, thousand some odd miles. I got the car arould 37 thousand. I changed the oil two times since then. I use teh Mobile one Extended preformace...5w30.

IDK if I would trust any oil to 10,000 miles, but that's just me. At 57,000 the guides should be in decent shape. Mine had 112,000 miles when done.

But to change the guides, the head must be removed from the engine. In all honesty, you would be farther ahead to get a reman head if it needs guides. A valve job should also be done with replacing the guides. For what it cost me, all said and done for the guides/valve job/resurface, I could have gotten a reman head for far less. And that was just the exhaust guides, as the intakes were fine. Live and learn.

$700 for what, a reman head? You can get them for much less than that. Less than half of that. And you don't have to wait to get your head back from the machine shop. Depending on their schedule, it could take a few weeks. With a reman head, you either pick it up, or have it shipped, swap heads and ship yours back, if they even want a core. Less down time FTW.
