Hey! This is a great thread.. I have a little under 20k on my SXT and I need an oil change, should I go with Synthetic? Everyone seems to say Mobil 1... so I guess I'll go with that.. anyone have any recommendations about what type? I live in Long Island, NY.. it's winter and it's pretty cold.. a warm day would be around 60, but lately it's been snowing and between 30-50.. if that info is at all helpful.. thanks!

Well, got it done this weekend and paid 40 for the oil, viper filter, and 5 labor - he said anyone else would have been 30-40 more... that seem right? I saw his prices from the auto store where he gets his stuff from, so I paid it at cost and $5 for the change on top. I wantt to check WalMart and see what they charge for same oil. He pays $5+ a qt for the mobile 1.

if you get it in the 5 qt jugs it works out to approx $4/qt.

jimbro: send me a pm with your driving conditions and how often you want to change your oil.

knoxville: most mobil 1 products are approx $5.30ish in walmart now. they used to be right at $5/qt

I usualy just get the Mobil 1 10W-30 in the big 5qt. jug, its easier to carry to the register, and thats all it takes anyways to fill it up when you change it.

As she stated and so have others, watch out for the 5QT jug sales at WallWorld. It ends up being cheaper per quart that way.

Jimbro727,
Us NY'rs need 5-30 in the winter, and you can switch to 10-30 for the summer. I use 5-30 all year round and never have any problems.

I'm running a Purolator PureONE oil filter with regular Mobil 1 5W-30, 5000 mile change intervals. Wal-Mart near my house is $19.99 for a 5-quart. $4/quart, can't argue with that. I bought my '03 back in July with 27k miles on it. It has 41k on it now and I've used Mobil 1 the whole way so far.
