getting codes need some help

i need some help with 2 codes

P0420(M) 1/1 Catalytic Converter Efficiency Catalyst 1/1 efficiency below required level.
P1687 No Cluster BUS Message No J1850 messages received from the Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) module.

car runs fine and is very responsive but not so good on gas mileage

gauges work but sometimes they don't turn on and i have to wait for it to sense the doors where opened every so often they will flash on and off and the gauges will shoot from one side to the other its also showing one of my doors are open and it flickers on and off

The Catalyst code could mean the cat is not changing the oxygen levels enough. The insides may have lost enough of the platinum, etc to do it's job. It may be partially plugged. Or it could just be a bad sensor. But basically the code is set when the upstream and downstream o2's are close to, or matching outputs. So removing the cat may not get rid of the code. You can try the fouler trick tho.

The cluster could be a bad ground, or the connector is loose/corroded.
